RESOLUTION NO. 8578
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING STAFF TO PROCEED WITH THE RESTRIPING OF HAMILTON
AVENUE FROM ALMARIDA AVENUE TO SALMAR AVENUE (PROJECT 93-76)
AND APPROVING THE ASSOCIATED BUDGET ADJUSTMENT
WHEREAS, the City Council on September 21, 1993 conceptually approved the
restriping of Hamilton Avenue from Almarida Avenue to Salmar Avenue and directed staff
to discuss funding the project with Fry's and Home Depot; and
WHEREAS, the City is required by the Congestion Management Agency to prepare
annual monitoring reports updating Level of Service (LOS) changes for City intersections; and
WHEREAS, if these monitoring reports indicate a further degradation in LOS in any
LOS F intersections, the City is in jeopardy of losing the gas tax increment from Proposition
111; and
WHEREAS, the additional traffic generated by Fry's and Home Depot is expected to
further degrade the current LOS F intersection of Hamilton and Salmar Avenues; and
WHEREAS, staff has discussed the project and requested funding from Fry's and
Home Depot but has not received any commitment for funding; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City and traffic to restripe Hamilton as
soon as possible; and
WHEREAS, a budget adjustment has been prepared to allocated additional funds from
unappropriated gas tax to the Traffic Spot Improvement Project to allow the completion of
the Hamilton Avenue restriping;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Campbell
that the budget adjustment is hereby approved and staff is directed to proceed with the
restriping of Hamilton Avenue from Almarida to Salmar.
