RESOLUTION NO. 8257
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA FOR CAMDEN AVENUE/SAN TOMAS EXPRESSWAY
STREET AND TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell and the County of Santa Clara have
determined that there are safety, traffic congestion, bicycle and
pedestrian mobility problems on the San Tomas Expressway and
Camden Avenue between Curtner Avenue and Old Camden Road; and
WHEREAS, a comprehensive program of improvements has been
developed by the County of Santa Clara and the City of Campbell
with the knowledge and concurrence of the California Department
of Transportation and the City of San Jose to address the range
of problems and needs in this area; and
WHEREAS, both the County of Santa Clara and the City of Campbell
agree to share the costs necessary to provide the appropriate
improvements; and
WHEREAS, the benefits from these improvements to Campbell
residents as pedestrians and bicyclists, and to automobile
commuters far exceed the capital and operating costs of the
improvements;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Campbell that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute an
agreement with the County of Santa Clara for Camden/San Tomas
Expressway street and traffic signal improvements; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that an appropriation of $400,000.00 in
gas tax funds is made to budget account 730.4432; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance can reimburse
the appropriated gas tax funds with up to $160,000.00 in
Transportation Development Act (TDA) funds should they be
received for the above-named improvements.
