CC Resolution 8202 RESOLUTION NO. 8202 A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY PLAN WHEREAS, the City Manager is required by Section 2.12.030 of the Campbell Municipal Code to prepare and submit to the City Council recommendations for the reorganization of offices, departments, and positions which are considered to be in the best interest of efficient, effective, and economical conduct of the municipal services provided by the City; and WHEREAS, a review has been conducted; and WHEREAS, an amendment to the current Classification and Salary Plan is needed to meet the requirements of Municipal Code Section 2.12.030. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell does hereby approve the revised job specification for Recreation Program Coordinator (Exhibit A), the new job specification for Museum Coordinator (Exhibit B), and the new job specification and salary range for the position of Lighting and Traffic Signal Technician (Exhibit C). Burr, ayor c:- ~ITY OF CAMPBELL EXHIBIT A RECREATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR DEFINITION Under supervision, to plan and organize a variety of services, programs and activities related to an assigned division (Youth, Senior Services, or Sports and Aquatics) of the Recreation and Community Services Department; and to do related work as required. TYPICAL DUTIES Plan, schedule, implement and evaluate a variety of division programs which may include special interest classes, recreation programs, special events, trips and excursions, holiday events, and summer camps; may recruit, select, train, supervise and evaluate temporary part-time and seasonal personnel; schedules use of facilities and assists with registration; works with other agencies and community groups to develop programs; develops public information and publicity material and other related informational materials; prepares written reports and maintains records; may supervise use of departmental equipment and facilities; and performs other related duties as required. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in recreation/leisure services or closely related field. Responsible experience related to the assigned program area is desirable. (Experience closely related to assigned program area may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to two years of the required education. A minimum of 60 semester units towards a recreation/leisure services or closely related degree would still be required.) Knowledge of: Basic recreation programming principles; effective organizational and leadership techniques; good interpersonal and public relations skills. Ability to: Organize and conduct recreational activities; work with a variety of community groups and the general public; determine program needs and demands; speak and write effectively; work with a minimum of supervision; prepare and maintain records and reports. Possession of: Valid California Driver's License. Sports and Aquatics position: Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate (must possess by no later than end of six month probationary period). Est. 6/85 Rev. 12/91 Spec3: 31 EXHIBIT B CITY OF CAMPBELL MUSEUM COORDINATOR DEFINITION Under supervision, to plan and organize a variety of services and activities related to the Historic Resources Division of the Recreation and Community Services Department; and to do related work as required. TYPICAL DUTIES Plans, schedules, implements, and evaluates a variety of division programs and services; develops exhibit themes and layouts; serving as museum curator, originates, designs and implements Museum exhibits and programs; leads and coordinates volunteer docent activities; does research and writes reports; catalogs, preserves and conserves historic objects; archives materials and photographs; makes public presentations and interprets exhibits; assists in budget preparation and preparation of grant applications; and performs other related duties as required. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major work in museum studies, history, social sciences, anthropology, or closely related field. Responsible related experience is desirable. Knowledge of: Principles, practices and methods of museum collection, inventory and preservation; museum exhibition techniques; research methods and office procedures; computer data base applications. Ability to: Organize and accomplish work tasks with a minimum of supervision; work effectively with a variety of community organizations, volunteers, other employees, and the public; speak and write effectively; prepare and maintain records and reports; physically work on and install exhibits. Possession of: Valid California Driver's License. Est. 12/91 Spec2: 36 EXHIBIT C Salary Range #1383 CITY OF CAMPBELL LIGHTING AND TRAFFIC SIGNAL TECHNICIAN DEFINITION Under general supervision, performs skilled journey-level electrical tasks in the maintenance and repair of street lights and traffic signal equipment; diagnoses and corrects street light circuit problems; inspects and troubleshoots traffic signal systems; and does related work as required. TYPICAL DUTIES Inspects, removes, and repairs street light standards and auxiliary equipment such as control boxes, light fixtures, lamps and circuitry; inspects, removes, and repairs signal controls and auxiliary equipment; diagnoses malfunctions; adjusts and replaces electronic and mechanical components; repairs, replaces, or modifies electric and electronic components, controllers, relays, switches, fuses, timers and other parts; assists in design and construction of special test equipment for shop testing of electronic components; investigates complaints and reports of signal and traffic light malfunctions; adjusts, repairs, or removes defective equipment; may make field repairs of damaged equipment; assists in the design of electrical circuits and systems for street lighting and traffic signals; inspects the work of contractors during the course of construction and upon completion; monitors traffic control computers and makes necessary adjustments; relamps signalized intersections and street lights; assists in preparing plans and specifications for signal and street lighting projects; paints light and signal standards; keeps accurate work records; orders supplies, parts, and materials; performs general electrical repairs at municipal facilities as required; and performs other related duties as required. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school and three years of experience in traffic signal or electrical/electronic repair or electrical inspection work. Knowledge of: Theory and principles of electrical and electronic equipment and circuits; tools and equipment used to repair electrical and electronic equipment and installations; methods and procedures used to repair and maintain traffic signal and lighting systems; occupational hazards and standard safety precautions. Ability to: Test and repair electrical and electronic equipment and installations; perform duties while elevated above traffic in basket of a boom truck; read and interpret plans, specifications, blueprints, schematics and maintenance manuals; establish and maintain effective working relationships; work at odd and irregular hours as required by job assignments.
