CC Resolution 8068RESOLUTION NO. 8068 BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE A NEW EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT WHEREAS, the adopted 1990-1992 Budget authorizes a permanent Assistant Engineer position in the Traffic & Lighting programs; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that the responsibilities of this position can best be provided by a contract Associate Traffic Engineer between April, 1991 and July, 1992; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that existing appropriations will fully fund the contract Associate Traffic Engineer position; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell does hereby authorize the Public Works Director to negotiate and execute an employment contract for the position of Associate Traffic Engineer with the Traffic and Lighting Services Section of the Public Works Deparment. Ba tiara Olsasky, City Cle k i Public Works ASSOCIATE TRAFFIC ASSISTANT ENGINEER (Contract Position To June 30, 1992) SALARY RANGE: $47,000 - $57,000 depending upon qualifications FILING DEADLINE: Resume must be received by 5 p.m. March 8~ 1991 at the Campbell Department of Public Works, 70 North First Street Campbell, CA 95008. Resume should identify appropriate education and experience related to qualifications listed below. THE POSITION: This position will report directly to the Traffic Engineer. TYPICAL DUTIES: Proiect Manager for: o preliminary design for four signals o design/construction management for four signal interconnect systems o design/construction management for permanent counting stations o managing signal system performance/timing o corridor analysis o Lighting system design/construction Close involvement or lead in: o neighborhood traffic control o impact assessment of development projects o support for transportation element update o development fee program formulation o GIS system development o traffic operations o interagency traffic issues o regional transportation planning GEK: CMBLLETR.246 Est. 02/91 City of Campbell Page 2 Department of Public Works Associate Traffic Engineer EMPLOYMENT Education and Experience: Graduation from STANDARDS: a college with a degree in civil engineering or closely related field. A master's degree in traffic or transportation engineering is desirable. Minimum of 5 years professional experience in traffic engineering. Requires professional registration as a civil or traffic engineer. Knowledge of: Design and construction of public projects; principals of consultant and project management; signal design and optimization of timing and operations; roadway and outdoor lighting; highway capacity; traffic impact assessment; traffic forecasting models; traffic engineering principles at the city or county level of government. (No one candidate is presumed to have knowledge of the full range of subjects above.) Ability to: Work independently with only general supervision; organize and coordinate assigned program responsibilities; communicate effectively orally and in writing; prepare reports and maintain financial records; establish and maintain effective working relationship with city staff, elected and appointed officials, the public, consultants, contractors and representatives of outside organizations. Possession of: Valid California driver's license. Registration as a Professional Engineer in Civil or Traffic Engineering in the State of California.
